A Work of Art [F]
Corinth sat on a metal bench, working on a rough sketch of the scene before him. It was of the playground, on a day when the children were in school. The way the sun was lancing down through the trees though had caught his attention. He made small notes around his sketch in case he ever turned it into a painting like he half-planned to do. He could see the formation of the work in his mind. Hopefully it would be something he could actually sell this time.
He was absorbed in his work and didn't hear anyone approach. His grey eyes flickered around the area, taking in the details as he committed them to paper.

Re: A Work of Art [F]
Whistling to himself, hands in slack's pockets, Memphis paused at the sight of someone so absorbed in their work. He perched himself nearby and glanced over the paper. "Whatcha doing?"
Re: A Work of Art [F]
Cor startled slightly, remembering to lift his pencil rather than run a line across the whole thing, "I...drawing."

Memphis tilted his head. He considered the paper for a moment and then considered the human instead. "Looks well done enough. You do this sort of thing often?"
Re: A Work of Art [F]
"It's a living." He replied, glancing at the smaller man before turning his attention back to his work.

"Oh, you do that for a living?" Memphis asked, brows rising. "That doesn't seem like it would bring much in."
Re: A Work of Art [F]
That earned him a sidelong glance and a clipped response, "It pays the bills."

"The ones that need paying." Corinth hedged. Alright, so occasionally it meant going to his landlord and begging for an extension (or living on nothing but the cheapest pasta he could locate for a couple of weeks), but in general the bills got paid and on time too.

Tilting his head, Memphis considered the drawing again. "Yeah-huh. You're just avoiding the question when you say something like that."
Re: A Work of Art [F]
Cor finally looked at him. "It's really none of your business, how many of my bills get paid via my art."

Memphis raised his brows and sat back. "Point, I suppose..." he murmured, crossing his arms over his chest, half inclined to go for the cigarettes he kept in one pocket.
Re: A Work of Art [F]
"Mhm." Cori eyed him for another moment before returning to his sketch.

Memphis tilted his head, considering him again before digging around his pockets, pulling out the cigarette case and lighter.

The artist eyed him, "Please tell me you're not intending to smoke here."

"I would be leaving. But I suppose it's your choice." He shrugged, glancing at the other again.

The shorter considered and shrugged, sticking them back in his pocket. "Alright, fine," he said, and looked over the sketch again. "You seem to have some talent at least."
Re: A Work of Art [F]
Corinth managed not to respond how he wanted to at that. "Well, I do have to make a living somehow. And being good at what you do is usually the best way to do that."

Re: A Work of Art [F]
"Well, perhaps," Memphis relied with a shrug. "It would certainly be useful for making a living, yes. You do anything else?"
Re: A Work of Art [F]
"In the way of a job? No. I spend most of my time working on my own art or commissions."

"Have anything going right now?" Memphis asked. So he was curious, he figured even if the other was hedging, he was still answering.
Re: A Work of Art [F]
"Does it matter?" He checked the look of the sketch in reflection of the playground. It would work for reference.

"Who knows? I might like commissions," Memphis replied. Alright, sorta a lie, but it was actually possible. Maybe. If he was really, really bored.
Re: A Work of Art [F]
"I..." He blinked, "I've got a couple of side projects I work on when I have time, and I have two commissions currently in the works. In addition to the sketches I'll do for people here in the afternoons sometimes."
